GRAMMAR SCHOOL CLASSROOM TEACHER (Leave Replacement)
Teachers hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of the CGPS curriculum and the success of its students. The Grammar School Teacher is committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level team. This position will cover multiple leave replacements for the 25-26 School Year.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with preparation and teaching of lessons in the designated subject areas in accordance with the curriculum of CGPS
- Teach curricula and activities to meet academic standards;
- Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating curriculum in conjunction with Lower School teaching team and Lower School Director
- Design and administer assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
- Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
- Maintain anecdotal and assessment records in preparation for parent conferences and report writing.
- Help lead differentiated and small group instruction
- Plan and work closely with grade level teaching teams
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions;
- Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior;
- Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards;
- Collaborate with colleagues both intra- and cross-departmentally to share best practices and ensure student progress
- Maintain consistent close communication with families about each child’s progress
- Coordinate with the school faculty, families, and outside support specialists to best support student growth
- Communicate student progress and goals through family conferences, home reports, and parent meetings and emails
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Implement a co-teaching model with another head teacher, associate teacher or within department
- Engage in professional development opportunities presented by school and also seek out development from reputable outside organizations
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with CGPS’s mission and values
QUALIFICATIONS
- Belief in and alignment with Columbia Grammar’s core beliefs and educational philosophy Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom
- Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
- Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects
- Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
- Responsive Classroom Training is a plus, willingness to take the course is necessary
- Minimum of two years teaching experience
- Valid State Certification is helpful but not required
WORK HOURS AND CLASS
- School Year ‘25-26, 7:45am - 3:45 pm
- Weekly faculty and department meetings - until 4:30pm
- Start Date: August 21, 2024
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $71,000- $118,500 annually based on completed degree programs and years of experience. We also offer a warm and supportive culture as well as exceptional benefits including but not limited to:
