Prep (High) School Nurse
The full time nurse promotes health and safety in the school environment and provides health services to Prep School students, faculty and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing routine and emergency triage, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and caring for student-patients with acute injuries/illnesses and or student-patients with long term care needs including diabetes, allergy, asthma, and seizures;
- Administering routine and emergency medications to students with comprehensive documentation;
- Maintaining and reviewing virtual health forms, including physicals, eye examinations, consent forms, and immunization records;
- Review of employee physical forms (both new hire and fit for duty) and clearing them to work at CGPS;
- Communicating pertinent medical and health information to families;
- Assessing student health concerns on an individual and building-wide basis, and deliver medical care, intervention, and community education as needed;
- Referring students and families for appropriate follow-up medical care and continue to partner with families on ongoing issues;
- Preparing documentation and supplies to accompany day and overnight trips;
- Overseeing medical emergency response protocols;
- Serve as initial point of contact for employee work related injuries which includes an initial evaluation, completion of the incident report and referring employee to an urgent care, hospital or their primary care physician;
- Ensuring compliance with established procedures and protocols, including any relevant COVID-19 guidelines;
- Understanding child abuse and maltreatment reporting requirements and processes;
- Maintaining the integrity of patient health information with the utmost confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and school policies;
- Maintaining nursing office supplies, answering phone calls and emails, maintaining paperwork and treatment/clinical notes, and communicating with the Main Office on attendance matters;
- Assisting with other tasks, projects and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current New York State RN License;
- BSN nursing degree from accredited college or university;
- Current certification in AHA or equivalent CPR/AED;
- 3-5 years of nursing experience, preferably in school nursing;
- Experience with electronic health records management systems;
- Ability to be a collaborative team member in order to achieve and meet the health care needs of students;
- Exceptional communication skills and a high level of integrity;
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks in order to ensure meeting the needs of the students;
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills.
WORK HOURS:
- Working hours are 7:45 am - 3:30 pm; attendance at faculty meetings required
- This is a exempt salaried position not eligible for overtime
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is $76,000 - $106,000 depending on completed degree programs and years of experience. We also provide an exceptional benefits package.
