The Assistant Director of Academic Support and Accessibility Services will contribute to the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Student Support Center (SSC). This role provides leadership, supervision, and direction to Accessibility Services, Testing Services, and Tutoring Services.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Determine and authorize appropriate accommodations for eligible students under ADA/ADAAA/504 laws.
- Review, interpret, and evaluate disability documentation for students with a variety of disabilities.
- Oversee the process of requesting and providing accommodations for students, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication.
- Conduct student intakes and determine and coordinate academic and/or physical accommodations accordingly.
- Consult with faculty on the implementation of academic accommodations, including but not limited to audio, attendance, and assignment flexibility.
- Serve as a resource for faculty and staff regarding questions related to accommodation needs of students as necessary.
- Provide career and vocational counseling to a caseload of students and assist with career and vocational planning related to their abilities and interests.
- Develop and conduct training opportunities related to supporting students with disabilities.
- Acts as liaison to external agencies, including but not limited to ACCES-VR, NYSCB, and NYSDSC.
- Provide supervision to support staff in Accessibility Services, Testing Services, and Tutoring Services.
- Remain current on emerging technologies, assistive technologies, and tools for academic adjustments. Provide support and training opportunities for staff on accessible technologies including Read and Write, Fusion, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Coordinate educational awareness and programming opportunities related to academic support and student success.
- Manages the Laptop Loan Program and Calculator Loaner Program.
- Manages the virtual Student Support Center in the learning management system, as well as scheduling software for in-person and virtual appointments (i.e., WCOnline).
- Maintain accurate records on program activities, prepare status reports, and develop annual assessment plans.
- Serve on College-wide committees as appropriate.
