As an Events Intern at Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club, you will be immersed in all aspects of our operations. From event operations through to planning and coordination, you will be exposed to the different areas at Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club. You will work closely with the Great Blue Heron Grille Food & Beverage Manager and other department leaders creating exceptional events and guest service. The Intern will receive regular feedback from department leaders on performance and learning objectives to set them up for success!

What you’ll do:
The Brass Tacks
- Will gain exposure to various elements of Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club – including Banquets, Operations, Culinary, Event Management, including but not limited to: set up and tear down, service standards at various event types, food safety, sales and event management.
- Supports all departments when trained.
- Works to support all departments operationally.
- Develops and maintains favorable working relationships and open communication with all departments.
- Manages guest issues effectively, keeping in mind both the guest’s needs and business objectives.
- Conducts adequate follow-up with both guest and fellow team members.
- Serves as operational lead in absence of direct manager/supervisor.
- Assists manager in training and coaching team members.
- May be scheduled in operational roles or server, host, or bartender.
- Positively contributes to CH Values and property culture.
- Preferably a university student enrolled in Hospitality Program or similar field, but not necessary.
- Prior experience in Restaurants or Banquets events i.e. Server, Host, Bartender preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to learn, show-up, smile and work on a team.
- Engaged in a forward moving educational or vocational program.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- The ability to interpret written and oral instructions.
- Strong computer skills: Full knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Hours may fluctuate up to full time depending on the rotation and business levels.
- Housing and travel is not provided.
