An experienced Commercial Claim Advocate Technical Specialist to work in the field. In this position you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle serious injury/damage claims involving moderate to large loss exposures in multi-jurisdictions, applying coverage, laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Inspects and evaluates damages in person and works with insured and claimant at the scene of the loss.
- Works close and resolves any issues face to face with contractors and/or repair facilities.
- Promptly review new losses and determine initial plan of action in the handling of the claim
- Analyze coverage as it relates to the facts and allegations of the claim; prepare Reservation of Rights and Declination of Coverage letters, as applicable
- Identify significant property damage losses and report them timely to upper management, reinsurers, and update each as necessary
- Promptly evaluate all claims as the investigation develops and establish and adjust reserves as warranted in order to ensure accurate reserving commensurate with claim exposure
- Review all expense bills for appropriateness, accuracy and adherence to Company billing guidelines within the Company’s e-billing system
- Recognize, notify, and pursue other culpable parties and seek contribution from such other responsible parties as warranted
- Work closely with defense counsel in the defense of all litigated claims in accordance with an established litigation plan and legal budget
- Negotiate claim settlements; attend mediations, settlement conferences and trials
- Mentor Claim Advocates and/or train staff on key issues
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required qualifications
- General liability, property, casualty, or auto experience required
- 5 years of commercial property claims handling experience
- Must have a clean and current motor vehicle record report
- Demonstrates experience or ability to deal with significant/complex coverage matters
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Exhibit sound negotiation, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
- Outstanding customer service, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to work effectively in a claims management systems and strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Experience with Xactimate estimating software or similar
- Ability to exercise independent judgment with moderate supervision in handling claims within reserve and settlement authority
- Ability to travel as warranted (i.e – property inspections, mediations, and settlement conferences)
- Must have a valid adjuster license in designated home state (or willing to obtain one within 60 days after hire) with the ability to obtain additional non-residential adjuster licenses
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
PREFFERD QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years experience with complex litigated claims preferred
- Previous experience with Excess & Surplus Lines (E&S) preferred
- CPCU or SCLA or CCLA or AEI designation preferred
