ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Establish a vision for the claims organization that supports the overall vision and mission of the Company. Support the focus on building enduring relationships and delivering exceptional customer service, while maintaining a philosophy under which all claims are handled promptly, fairly, accurately and ethically.
- Identify strategic opportunities and implement changes for process improvement through people, procedures and technologies.
- Manage claim personnel in all claim activities, including litigation, anti-fraud, and salvage/subrogation necessary with focus on cultural alignment, performance management, and employee / leadership development.
- Manage the day-to-day operations, direct reports, systems and projects.
- Serve as executive leader for claims systems and related integrations; additional emphasis required during current system transformation.
- Manage and evolve data analytics in collaboration with IT and other business partners for improved claims processing, quality and service levels.
- Remain current on claims trends, evaluating their impact and advising company leadership on their competitive and financial impact.
- Develop and monitor the annual operating and capital budgets and monitor cost effectiveness of all claim activities including law firms, independent adjusters and other vendors.
- Coordinate and manage outsourced claims resources and vendor providers.
- Promote strategic relationships between claims department and other internal departments as well as external stakeholders, including agency partners, policyholders, vendors, regulators and other partner organizations.
- Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Enforce company policies and procedures and promote the culture and core values of the Company.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10 years previous property/casualty claims experience in roles of increasing responsibility with the majority in a multi-line commercial claims environment
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing people
- Demonstrated ability to foster and build a dynamic, team-oriented, results-driven environment of accountability and growth
- Extensive knowledge of claims practices and techniques used in property/casualty insurance industry including the claims vendor and defense bar community
- Strong negotiation skills
- Goal-oriented and possesses the ability to prioritize on a consistent basis in an ever-changing environment.
- Strong customer-service orientation with superior verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience working with claims analytics to drive insights and improve customer experience
- Demonstrated experience benchmarking and implementing “best-in-class” strategies, processes, and programs
- Ability to work with many cross-functional internal and external partners.
- Collaborative problem-solving skills and a natural investigative mind set.
- Ability to think conceptually and strategically, while maintaining a results-driven approach.
- Unquestionable integrity and the ability to handle sensitive issues.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- JD, MBA or Master’s degree with emphasis in Risk Management or Business
- AIC/CPCU designation
- Litigation management experience
- Ideal candidate has experience leading a major system transformation
