Summary:
Carpenter is responsible for auditing the picklist against the parts presented to ensure order accuracy. Carpenter will determine size of crate needed. Select the appropriate lumber materials (pick plywood sheets and dimensional lumber) and cut to appropriate size. Safely load crate, brace parts and protect against moisture (as needed). Weigh crate, log and complete paperwork. Place complete crate and paperwork in shipping area so shipper can process BOL (Bill of Lading).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Audit the order against the pick list – requiring high attention to detail. Match part numbers and quantity accurately. Determine the appropriate shipping method to ensure correct packaging methods and weights are considered
- Build Crate: Determine the required crate size by measuring largest pieces and estimating the overall dimensions of crate
- Select lumber needed and cut to size. Assemble crate, add parts to crate ensuring proper fit
- Take pictures of the parts on the order prior to loading crate, and take pictures as each layer is created in the crate
- Secure the parts in the crate by blocking and bracing parts to prevent shifting during transit. Ensure lighter weight parts are on top
- Use rust inhibitor for metal parts that are not painted and protect parts that have delicate surfaces
- Operate forklift to move crates and stock lumber or other supplies in the carpenter shop
- Construct shop pallets using the provided jig
- Logs daily crates on daily sales orders
- Other duties as assigned

- Proficient in using power tools
- Calculates crate sizes and builds them according to order specifications
- Audits order against pick list, ensuring quantity and parts number match
- Performs tool maintenance by changing out saw blades, filters, jams, and adjusting stop brakes
- Knowledge of basic print reading
- Utilizes vault tool

Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years of experience preferred
