What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Worker position at Columbia Power & Water Systems?
Columbia Power & Water Systems (CPWS) is a public utility proudly serving the citizens of Columbia and Maury County Tennessee since 1939. CPWS is seeking a Warehouse Worker to receive materials purchased or returned and issue materials as requisitioned.
The primary duties & responsibilities of this position include:
- Receive materials purchased or returned, including unloading trucks. Materials received must be weighed, measured, or counted quickly and accurately. Receiving reports must be properly completed at the time of receipt. Materials must be stocked in the appropriate location, determined by the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Pull and issue material according to written requisition sheets and work orders.
- Operate tow motor safely and maintain tow motor in proper working condition, including, but not limited to, charging battery and greasing.
- Communicate with other employees via CPWS radio communication equipment and telephone.
- Ship out materials by UPS and general freight trucks.
- Operate computer to check inventory item numbers, descriptions, locations, etc.
- Assist in taking physical inventory.
- Assist Warehouse Supervisor in salvaging material.
- Assist in keeping warehouse and outside storage areas clean and efficient, which includes sweeping, taking out trash, etc.
- Maintain records on transformers, rubber gloves, and other items as requested.
- Drive company vehicles when necessary to pick up materials from local vendors or deliver materials to crews.
- Sell selected items to contractors in accordance with company policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 0 – 120 pounds for 1 hour a day
- Ability to lift 0 – 60 pounds for 8 hours a day
- Ability to walk and stand for 8 hours a day
- Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and twist for long periods of time
- Ability to talk, see, hear, reach, handle, and feel
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Valid State of Tennessee Driver’s License required
- 1 year of experience working in a warehouse or similar experience preferred
Residency Requirements:
- Must reside within a CPWS service territory or Maury County due to the position being subject to stand-by, after-hours, and/or emergency call-out
