JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated Controller with extensive experience in management, month-end close processes, and percentage-complete accounting. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, adaptable, and passionate about advancing their career while contributing to our growing team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management:
- Oversee accounting operations for BEC, CREM, and Hamer Electric.
- Produce ad hoc reports and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Implement controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Operational Tasks:
- Manage payables, receivables, payroll, and payroll taxes.
- Prepare, reconcile, and file quarterly payroll tax liabilities
- Reconcile balance sheet GL’s on a monthly basis.
- Monitor and report on loan balances, bonding, and financial statements.
- Pursue insurance rebates and solicit new insurance bids as needed.
- Collaborate with the Business Execution Team on 401K deposits and account maintenance.
- Handle banking activities, including account reconciliation and check deposits.
- Prepare and submit tax returns, union benefits reports, and other financial documentation.
- Support CFO with necessary reports and schedules.
Team Collaboration:
- Partner with the leadership team in strategic decision-making.
- Lead and support the front office team effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the electrical contractor industry.
- Assist in the maintenance of project records and documents, using a variety of systems (such as ProCore, and our ERP System Spectrum) and file structures
- Prepare ad hoc reports, such as on project financials, production rates/tracking, aged AR & QA/QC.
- Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 7-10 years of progressive construction accounting experience in a similar role.
Skills:
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficient in percentage-complete accounting.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- High integrity and professional representation of the company.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of pre-employment testing and credit check.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is expected to have occasional (mostly within state) travel requested as part of the role.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The position will work in a typical indoor office setting, at times requiring walking outdoors between buildings or other various environments. Infrequently, the position will be working in industrial or commercial or construction site project settings, both indoors and out.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- May be asked to drive to and walk customer job sites in a variety of industrial, commercial or construction site settings.
