What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bi-Vocational Pastor position at Columbia Road Baptist Church?
Job Summary
We are seeking a biblically qualified man to join our congregation's elder team. The ideal candidate will exhibit wisdom and understanding (James 3:13) and Reformed Baptist doctrinal convictions.
Duties
- Share in leadership of worship services, including preaching and teaching.
- Provide Christian counseling to individuals and families in crisis.
- Mentor church members, helping them grow in their faith and leadership abilities.
- Conduct crisis intervention when necessary, offering guidance and support during challenging times.
- Facilitate small group discussions and Bible studies to encourage spiritual growth.
- Collaborate with church leadership on strategic planning and vision for the church’s future.
- Maintain open communication with congregation members, being present for their spiritual needs.
Qualifications
- The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
It is expected that this position will become full-time with a numerical expansion of the congregation and passing on of current elders.
