Founded in the 1880s as a one-room schoolhouse located in historic Columbia State Park, Columbia Union School District (CUSD) is a one-school elementary district serving about 500 students in grades kindergarten through eight. Located two miles north of Sonora in the gold country of the Sierra Nevada Foothills, Columbia Elementary School relocated in-1936 when a new school building was constructed on Parrotts Ferry Road. Over the years the campus has expanded to meet the
needs of the growing district. In 2007, the district completed the construction of 19 state-of-the-art classrooms and an Education, Sports, and Performing Arts Complex.
Columbia Elementary focuses on the success of the whole child. The parents, staff, and students focus on creating unique learning opportunities to ensure students leave our school ready for high school and beyond. Columbia Elementary enjoys the support of our parents and community members. The community surrounding the school is made up of a variety of businesses and private homes. Job Summary
To plan, organize, direct, manage, and oversee the district's Business Services to include accounting, purchasing, and payroll, and risk management in accordance with the Superintendent's and Board of Trustees' directives; to plan, manage and coordinate the district's annual budgeting process : to provide specialized and professional staff support information, and assistance to the Board and the Superintendent; and to participate as a responsible, proactive and positive team member of the district's senior management team. Receives direction from the Superintendent. Exercises direct supervision over assigned clerical and food service personnel.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced principles and practices of school finance including accounting, financial reporting, budget formulation, and financial forecasting. Advanced theories, and state-of-the-art practices in methods of management, leadership, supervision, training, and policy formulation. Theories and practices of long and short-range planning and change management. Principles of public and community relations. District organization, operations, and objectives.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, finance, business administration. Master Degree Certified and / or Public Accountant (CPA) licensure strongly preferred.
- California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) Chief Business Official Certification / Training (highly desired).
- Two years of varied and increasingly responsible accounting and business services experience.
