The Son Lab is launching at Weill Cornell Medical College in NYC in January 2025. We are seeking a highly motivated lab technician to join our team with a 2-3 year commitment. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain valuable research experience to strengthen their application for Ph.D. or M.D. programs. Prior hands-on laboratory research experience is required.
The Son Lab’s research interests are centered around the intersections of metabolic disease, gene regulation, and multi-omics. Our research aims to unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic disorders and identify potential therapeutic targets.

Responsibilities
- Perform basic molecular and cellular biology techniques, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, and mammalian cell culture.
- Manage and maintain mouse colonies, including tasks such as tail clipping, genotyping, and data entry in Excel.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to support experimental investigations.
- Prepare, order, and maintain stocks of necessary reagents, solutions, and supplies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Exhibit a proactive, self-motivated mentality with a strong eagerness to learn and grow.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field
