Position Overview
This position provides outpatient support services and mental health therapy to all clients served in the FACT program at Columbia Wellness. Counselor will provide services to a broad array of mental health disorders based on counselor’s demonstration of skill and knowledge of treating disorder at the direction of a mental health therapist.
Summary of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
- Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, or tests.
- Assess patients for risk of suicide attempts and safety plan as needed.
- Provide 24-hour crisis support to clients enrolled in FACT several days out of each month as scheduled.
- Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork, including federal- and state-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes.
- Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
- Guide clients in the development of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems.
- Perform crisis interventions with clients.
- Demonstrate knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, ethnicity, and cultural competency.
- Services necessary for the continuity of client care (consultation, supervision, referrals, phone messages, correspondence).
- Training activities that are appropriate to enhancing relevant knowledge & skills.
- Location of clients by phone contact & home outreaches.
- Assistance in assessment of client’s clinical needs.
- Facilitate & assist in groups based on evidence of skill and knowledge.
- Effective use of technology and software including but not limited to: computers, phones, email, EMR, etc.
- Ability to work with difficult cases and vulnerable populations.
- Be helpful, respectful, approachable and team-oriented.
- Effective time management including but not limited to: planning ahead where possible and be punctual in person and work performed.
- Build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
- Be receptive to feedback, willing to learn, and embrace continuous improvement.
- Complete all documentation, reporting, and other paperwork per agency standards.
- Attend all appropriate staff, organizational, and external meetings (as assigned).
- Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to be flexible and manage urgent and crisis situations effectively.
- Ability to motivate staff and develop a working team around individual cases.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a counseling or social services related field from an accredited college or university.
- Upon hire: professional registration or certification by the Licensing Department of the State of Washington as a counselor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Adults/Teens.
Schedule: The shift (once trained) will be Wednesday - Saturday, 10:00 am to 8:30 pm
Salary: Starting at $23.48/hr.
