*Job Summary*
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count materials within the warehouse or distribute materials within the production area.
Forklift Operator Job
Start of shift
- Daily forklift inspection
- Get our trucks on the road by packaging parts and loading. Prioritize the customer that is leaving soonest.
- Get material to laser operators. Continuously as it comes up
- Unload trucks and work with SC to organize incoming material. Complete Receiving Audits if SC and QI are unavailable.
- Package parts that have been QC’d.
- Take out scrap. Before dumping hoppers, check for any improperly mixed materials.
- Keep the production floor and warehouse organized by keeping forklift lanes clear, keeping shelves accessible, keeping customer materials together and clearly labeled
- Staging pallets for operators–keeping a stock of pallets inside, removing broken pallets from the production floor.
- Work with SC to place return material in shelves. By the end of shift
- Stage material for second shift. When possible, check with Laser Supervisor after 2nd break to begin preparing 2nd shift's material.
- Stock pallets for 2nd shift to use. During down time
- Check upcoming materials to be run and stage them to be easily pulled, either at the staging bay or at the top of the stack in the shelves.
- Consolidate material that is the same, and work on moving all customer materials to the same sections.
The goal is to free up space while maintaining ease of access for upcoming materials.
- Do a walkthrough of the production floor and work with the laser operators to organize the space. Pull material they're done with, or pallets of overruns. Remove broken pallets and loose boards. See if the operators have enough pallets to keep a waist-high station.
- Stock your station-make sure there is enough wrap, tape, and banding materials accessible on the floor.
- If all above items are completed, assist other departments as a general floater (help unload laser parts, clean parts, help brake press stack parts, help QC count parts, as needed.
