Job Overview: The STNA Instructor is responsible for teaching students the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to pass the State Tested Nurse Aide certification exam and work effectively in healthcare settings. This includes teaching students proper patient care techniques, medical terminology, and the ethical standards required in the field. The instructor is also responsible for evaluating students' progress and preparing them for the state certification process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Curriculum: Deliver educational material based on the state’s approved nurse aide training curriculum. This may include both classroom and hands-on clinical instruction.
- Develop and Implement Lesson Plans: Create and update lesson plans to ensure they align with state and federal regulations.
- Assess Student Progress: Evaluate students' performance through written exams, practical demonstrations, and clinical skills assessments. Provide feedback to help students improve.
- Maintain Student Records: Keep detailed records of student attendance, progress, and test scores in accordance with state regulations.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure that the program complies with the State and federal regulations regarding nurse aide training programs.
- Provide Support: Offer guidance and mentoring to students, helping them develop both their technical skills and their ability to provide compassionate care.
- Prepare for State Exam: Ensure students are fully prepared for the State Test, which typically includes both written and clinical skills portions.
- Maintain Certifications: Stay updated on the latest industry standards, best practices, and continuing education requirements. Maintain necessary certifications for teaching the STNA course.
Qualifications:
- Required Education/Experience:
- A valid RN (Registered Nurse) license with a minimum of two years of nursing experience.
- Previous teaching or training experience is preferred.
- Completion of an approved nurse aide instructor course, if required by the state.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess and evaluate students’ skills and knowledge effectively.
- Strong organizational skills to manage student records and progress.
- Patience and understanding to work with diverse student populations.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Columbiana County Career and Technical Center
- Hours: 8am-4pm. Hours may vary based on Clinical assignment.
