Peer Employment Specialist (p.t.)
P.T., normally 20 hrs. per week, variable M-F, to provide pre-employment and post-employment guidance according to the needs/desires of potential applicants, using both individual and group settings. Grant-funded position which includes paid leave and retirement plan eligibility.
To include, but not be limited to:
Schedule and facilitate outreach employment labs at community resource locations that potential participants frequent (churches, community centers, food pantries; schedule and facilitate bi-weekly job search tips workshops; assist participants in developing empowerment skills through self-advocacy and stigma-busting activities. Assist with building social skills in the participant to support success within the workplace and the community. Assist in hosting a community Opportunity Fair to showcase local employment opportunities to job seekers.
Coordinate vocational service efforts with referral sources: Perform liaison activities with employment team; assist with tracking and reporting efforts of milestones and grant requirements; record documentation of assessments, service planning, progress of department and participant goals, and completes reports to Vocational Services Coordinator.
Mentor and facilitate employment engagement opportunities for potential participants; travel. Actively participate in treatment team meetings, supervision.
Consistent, timely and accurate completion of work time/leave reporting. Regular attendance and adherence to work schedule. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be 21 years of age, self-identified as a person in recovery and possess or be actively working toward Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) status and documentation of same. Related experience preferred. Interest/willingness to work with individuals recovering from mental illness. Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal, planning and organization skills. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other providers and work as a team member. Ability to work a flexible schedue, independently and able to meet deadlines. Computer data entry skills required; knowledge of Microsoft (Word) preferred. Willingness and ability to provide transportation to agency consumers, as needed. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and meet and provide proof of agency required vehicle insurance limits/coverage. Subject to criminal background, drug screen and BMV clearances. E.O.E.
