What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Administrative Assistant position at Columbus Behavioral Health?
Columbus Behavioral Health is looking for an energetic team-player to facilitate positive patient experiences in our practice by providing administrative support to our growing psychiatric medical team. In addition to general administrative tasks, the Administrative Medical Assistant functions as a liaison between patients and prescribers, promptly addressing patient questions and concerns and documenting issues in progress, assuring they are completed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Support the practice in an administrative capacity
- Deliver positive patient experiences
- Function as liaison between patients and prescribers
- Promptly address patient concerns
- Document issues in progress and assure they are completed in a timely manner
- Research and resolve prescription and refill concerns
- Enter medications into prescribing software for prescriber to submit
- Answer calls directed to the medication services line
- Respond to messages received through the patient portal
- Schedule patient appointments
- Initiate, coordinate and complete prior authorizations, as needed
- Greet patients in office and provide assistance to prescribers so they stay on schedule
- Complete forms, draft letters and print work/school excuses
- Upload GeneSight results to charts and send to patients

Education and Experience
- Associates degree required; Bachelors degree healthcare administration preferred
- 2 years experience in behavioral or medical health care setting preferred
- Billing experience helpful but not required

- Knowledgeable of and adherence to HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality

- Enjoy being a liaison between patients and prescribers
- Ability to de-escalate situations, advocate for patient needs, and collaborate with prescribers on resolutions
