The skill set to effectively engage in
collaborative planning which is aligned to the schools’ mission and goals and
to create a comprehensive school counseling program which
includes individual and small group counseling.
Ø
The skills to work directly with students to support
their academic progress and goals which will allow them to successfully
matriculate to the next grade level.
Ø
The skills to work directly with students to develop
their college and career related knowledge, skills and pathways.
Ø
The skills to work directly with students to support
their social/emotional development, skills and mindsets; this includes
providing crisis intervention during emergencies and grief counseling for
student and /or staff.
Ø
The ability to coordinate school and
community resources and provide referrals as needed to support student
success.
Ø
The ability to use DATA to monitor
student progress, to monitor the effectiveness of the school counseling
program, and to recommend changes to the comprehensive counseling program,
practices and policies to foster student success.
