ESL Instructional Coach
SUMMARY:
Plans, directs and coordinates professional development for the ESL
and general education teachers. Implements
instructional practices with an emphasis on merging Language Acquisition into
the content areas: English Language Arts, math, science, social studies and
special education. Utilizes instructional practices which reflect current
educational research in teaching and learning. Analyzes data for decision
making. Works collaboratively with
teachers, administrators and fellow team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•
Conduct classroom observations on instructional
design and delivery; providing support through nonevaluative feedback, model
teaching, mentoring, etc.
•
Utilize student performance data accessed
through CIMS and other sources to focus planning and enhance the delivery of
instruction and student achievement.
•
Facilitate meetings between ESL teachers and
general education teachers to coordinate instruction and discuss student
progress
•
Deliver
professional development that is based on best practices for ELL
learners
•
Establish and maintain confidentiality
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
•
Valid Ohio Certification/Licensure
•
TESOL endorsement
•
Minimum of 5 years successful experience working
in an ESL program
•
Master’s Degree in education preferred
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
•
Knowledgeable about the Ohio Academic Content
Standards for English Language Arts and Reading
•
Knowledgeable about adolescent learning theory
•
Knowledgeable about best practices for teaching
ELLs
•
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
