Overview
We are seeking a skilled Roofer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in roofing and carpentry, with experience in various construction tasks. As a Roofer, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofs on residential and commercial buildings. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing skilled roofing work in repairing and replacing roof systems, including the supporting structures and drains; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work:
- Patches roofs by using a trowel to apply asphalt or tar.
- Repairs gutters, flashings, copings, roof drains, downspouts, and skylights.
- Caulks or mortars cracks on roof and in building structure.
- Cleans work area before and after completion of duties.
- Climbs ladders or scaffolds to reach work area.
- Works with Head Custodian to keep roofs and drains free of debris; investigates and takes action on reports of leaks in buildings.
- Operates spray machine to waterproof various building surfaces.
- Repairs rubber, PVC roofs, torch down and asphalt mopped roofs.
- Inspects and evaluates work performed by roofing contractors; monitors progress for roofing projects.
- Reads warranty information to determine if terms adequately cover needs of department and are in compliance with terms of the contract.
- Informs supervisors and administrators when warranty terms appear to be inadequate or inconsistent with contract.
- Makes recommendations on cost-effective, efficient methods of roofing, re-roofing, maintenance, and repair of roofs.
- Maintains computer records of roof repairs and warranty information.
Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years of experience in roofing, one (1) year of which must have been at the journey level.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
