POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises the accurate reporting and compliance of all data related to students with disabilities, services, and related services. Partners with EMIS personnel to ensure that correct SPED student information is contained in the district student information systems. Performs IEP and ETR compliance programming and reporting, including court ordered placements and transportation services for students with disabilities. Supervises Home Instruction, Hearing Office and Central Enrollment and the evaluation and identification of students with disabilities as well as the delivery of educational services to students with disabilities ensuring all students receive appropriate educational and support services in the least restrictive environment and are consistent with the mission statement and instructional goals of the District.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
? Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned staff. In conjunction with the Human Resources Department, Legal Department, and other departments (as needed) duties include researching, hiring, training, counseling, and evaluating staff performance; coordinating, delivering and monitoring the work of Central Enrollment, Home Instruction and Hearing Office.
? Supervises the compliance and reporting of all data surrounding Special Education Services. Ensures documentation is entered according to mandates with regard to student receipt of appropriate educational and support services in the least restrictive environment and in compliance with related federal and state regulations and requirements.
? Supervises the evaluation, identification of students with disabilities and the delivery of educational services to students with disabilities.
? Serves as the representative for all processes and procedures facilitated through the Hearing Office and monitors related services and documentation to ensure compliance.
? Monitors and supplies necessary reports to district staff to ensure compliance of IEP and ETR deadlines and data entry and all required documentation and reports.
? Provides communication and feedback to correct data entry errors and facilitates additional training of staff when required.
? Partners with EMIS personnel to ensure that accurate SPED student information is maintained in the district student information systems. Performs IEP and ETR compliance programming and reporting, including court-ordered placements and transportation services for students with disabilities.
? Assumes responsibility for a comprehensive monitoring process, including CEIS/CCIP, with regard to federal and state regulations and initiates corrective action as necessary.
? Represents the district at IEP, MFE and Hearing meetings assisting in resolution of various student issues and ensuring compliance with related federal and state regulations. Works cooperatively with special education personnel and building administrators to coordinate program and service delivery and ensure all students receive appropriate educational and support services.
? Monitors district compliance with federal and state regulations and requirements relating to the provision of educational services to students with special needs; initiates corrective action as necessary.
? Ensures departmental staff maintains required credentials and facilitates on-going professional development opportunities that align with district strategies and objectives.
? Plans and conducts staff training and in-service programs regarding implementation of district initiatives, trends for students with diverse learning needs, best practices, and academic programming and compliance issues related to special education students.
? Assists in the development and modification of departmental policies and procedures; revises departmental work systems and procedures as necessary to comply with federal and state regulations and district requirements.
? Administers assigned budget(s); ensures expenditures are within the approved budget(s).
? Researches, monitors and promotes data aligned resources, instruction, programming and evaluation.
? Serves as a resource to district staff, parents, guardians, community agency personnel and others; effectively communicates district policies, roles and responsibilities as well as the needs and rights of students with disabilities.
? Develops and maintains appropriate communication and relationships with all departments, and officials of appropriate agencies to create high performing teams and relationships.
? Resolves problems, situations or issues in a collaborative, tactful, courteous and respectful manner. Works cooperatively and maintains communication with other departments and external parties to resolve problems and exchange information.
? Maintains current knowledge of federal and state mandates related to instruction of students with special needs. Recommends changes to programs and services as necessary.
