TOSA - POSITIVE
BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS COORDINATOR
Columbus
City Schools is accepting applications for the position of Positive Behavior
Interventions and Supports Coordinator. Under direction, the Coordinator is
responsible for supporting the development, implementation and sustainability
of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework including the integration
of the MTSS Multied-Tiered Systems of Support process throughout the district.
Qualifications:
Ø
License/Certification
in Education or School Social Work or School Counseling from the Ohio
Department of Education
Ø
3
-5 years of applicable experience as a
teacher, school counselor or school social worker in an urban environment; experience
as building level MTSS/ PBIS coordinator and/or member of the MTSS / PBIS
committee.
Knowledge required:
Ø
Knowledge
of prevention/intervention programs for students and families
Ø
Knowledge
of response to intervention, functional
behavioral interventions, and IDEA
Ø
Knowledge
of curriculum and instruction; teaching strategies, and theories of education
Ø
Knowledge
of current literature, trends, methods and developments in the areas of
prevention and intervention.
Ø
Knowledge
of the use of technology to create and maintain data bases, to develop and
present in-service, and to create accountability documents.
Ø
Knowledge
of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support framework
Ø
Demonstrated
ability to effectively communicate with students, family members, school
personnel and members of the community both orally and in writing
Ø
Demonstrated
ability to create , develop and present professional development workshops for
staff, students and parents
Responsibilities
Ø
Assist
in planning and facilitating Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
Training to school teams and school-based community agencies and organizations
Ø
Recommend
strategies, techniques and materials to assist Positive Behavior Intervention
and Support teams to improve school learning climates determined by school data
Ø
Maintain
Positive Behavior Support training manual, collect and compile data, and
prepare reports as required
Ø
Work
in collaboration with the district MTSS team to coordinate and integrate
Positive Behavior Supports within existing building level MTSS teams.
Ø
Recommend
strategies, techniques and materials to assist school SAIL teams in developing
and monitoring response to academic and behavioral interventions
Ø
Assist schools to increasing knowledge level
of cultural competency in creating positive school climates
Ø
Monitor
and support district and building level implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention
and Supports
Ø
Commitment
to working in an urban multi-cultural district
Funding for this position dependent is contingent upon availability
of federal grant award.
