This position is responsible for operating equipment to perform maintenance and beautification of city owned cemeteries.
- Must be able to prepare a grave site for the burial of cremations, body burial, or funeral.
- Performs grounds maintenance in four city-owned cemeteries; picks up litter; cleans.
- Stocks and issues supplies to crews; maintains an inventory of all motorized equipment.
- Transports equipment to work sites and the repair shop.
- Ensures that crews have the appropriate supplies and materials.
- Operates dump trucks, front end loaders, backhoes, flatbed trucks, blowers, chainsaws, and chippers.
- Prepares reports on accidents and injuries.
- Assists in supervising inmates; transports injured employees.
- Performs inspections of equipment and vehicles.
- Responds to customer complaints and questions.
- Responds to 911 pages.
- Supervises community service workers and/or inmates.
- Prepares work orders, daily worksheets, and accident reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the rules and precautions related to roadway and equipment safety.
- Knowledge of supervisory techniques.
- Knowledge of city radio functions and codes.
- Knowledge of the techniques of grounds maintenance.
- Skill in the operation of dump trucks, tractors, front end loaders, backhoes, flatbed trucks, chainsaws, and blowers, and other heavy equipment.
