This position is responsible for maintaining the Right of Ways for the Urban Forestry & Beautification Division.Remove dirt and debris from roads.Carries tools, mixes concrete, sweeps street gutters; shovels gravel, snow, dirt, sand, rakes leaves, and cuts brush.Picks up litter and debris from right of way; cleans up spills by placing sand on them; removes trash and litter from curbs and gutters; rakes leaves and uses blowers; cuts grass.Directs traffic around the work site during road repairs, and spreads seeds, fertilizers, and mulch during landscaping.Loads and unloads trucks with proper materials.Maintains landscaping, mowing, planting, and seeding. Delivers concessions, chemicals, and miscellaneous equipment.Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Picks up garbage and debris as assigned.Cleans truck and other equipment.Applies fertilizer; plants grass and shrubbery.Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of the fleet yard.Removes trash from park grounds and buildings; cleans restrooms.Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations and work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques utilized in the performance of grounds maintenance and landscaping activities. Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the performance of grounds maintenance and landscaping activities. Knowledge of the safe operation of assigned equipment. Skill in problem solving and decision making. Skill in the operation of hand tools and other assigned equipment. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: Balancing – maintain equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching. Crouching – bending body forward by bending leg, spine. Feeling – perceiving attributes of objects by touch with skin, fingertips. Grasping – applying pressure to object with fingers, palm. Handling – picking, holding, or working with whole hand. Hearing 1 – perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receive information. Hearing 2 – receive detailed information, make discrimination in sound. Kneeling – bending legs at knee to come to rest at knees.
