What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Columbus Hospitality Management?
Essential Functions :
- Supervises the accounting team, including Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other areas as assigned.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, development, and evaluation of the staff.
- Establishes or recommends to management Accounting Policies and Procedures for the property.
- Plans and implements procedures, workflows, and systems.
- Prepare reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
- Advises management about risk and liabilities for protection against property losses.
- Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
- Arranges for audits of property accounts.
- Prepares reports for regulatory agencies, including non-Income Tax Returns & Filings
- Prepares and negotiates different contracts.
- Maintains files for all contracts and agreements for historical reference and for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
- Maintains good relations with operations managers and leadership, as well as outside organizations such as banks, auditors, etc.
- Provides continuous direction to and education of the operation team in all areas related to finance, financial reports, internal controls, labor management, payroll, month end reconciliation, P&L performance, etc.
- Have complete knowledge of all policies, standards and procedures of the department.
