This role provides a unique opportunity to guide a student through a structured, personalized learning plan across all core elementary subjects, including math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. The selected candidate will follow a provided curriculum and tailor lessons based on the student’s academic level and learning style. A balance of structure, patience, and creativity is key.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one instruction across core elementary subjects using a provided curriculum
- Prepare and guide engaging, age-appropriate activities to reinforce learning
- Track academic progress and provide informal updates weekly
- Encourage curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning
- Maintain a consistent routine and positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents about needs and progress
- Help create a fun, focused, and nurturing environment that supports educational and personal growth
Position Specifications & Desired Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma/GED required; some college in education or a related field preferred
- Previous experience working with children, especially in tutoring, teaching, or youth programming
- Patient, kind, reliable, and enthusiastic about learning
- Comfortable working in a home-based environment
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to create a calm, structured, and engaging space for one-on-one learning
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with online curriculum and effective teaching methods
- Comfortable integrating music, movement, and creative activities into lessons
- Tech-savvy with basic skills in Google Classroom, Word, and PowerPoint
Schedule & Commitment:
- Monday through Friday, morning hours (3–4 hours per day)
- 5 days per week
- All sessions take place in our home, with a parent or guardian present nearby
