Job Title: Summer Reading Associate (330 hr./Non-Exempt/Part-time)

Starting Pay Range: $17.34- $21.32 hourly (commensurate with experience)

About the Position:
As a Summer Reading Associate, you will support the operation of the Summer Reading Challenge by maintaining the sign-up station, taking SRC to summer school classrooms and working with volunteers. Additionally, you will assist in a wide range of Summer Reading Challenge activities.
Position Schedule
Monday- Friday 9:30am-4:30pm (Weekends as needed for programs and events)
What You’ll Do:
- Assists with the operation and organization of the Summer Reading Challenge sign up station, including scheduling volunteers, stocking supplies and maintaining a smoothly running service point.
- Promotes Summer Reading Challenge participation to school personnel, parents and staff at parent or staff meetings.
- Contacts schools and independently schedules visits to register students for the program.
- Helps orient and train volunteers.
- Provides program assistance.
- Collects and helps set up program materials.
- Explains the Summer Reading Challenge to youth, teens, parents, group leaders and teachers.
- Assists with group registration and incentives.
- Assists youth with the selection of library materials.
- Organize and transport supplies and incentives to schools and group sites.
- Encourages children and teens to complete the program.
- Assists with organizing and displaying books, keeps area neat, and fills displays.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience and desire to work with children of all ages.
- Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job related equipment and systems.
- Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions).
Work requires occasional lifting or pushing of up to 20 lbs. and the frequent lifting or pushing of up to 10 lbs.
