Columbus Orthopaedic Surgery Center in Columbus, Mississippi has a rare vacancy. Established in 2003, the Surgery Center is accredited by JCAHO, as well as programmatically certified by JCAHO for Spine Surgery and Total Joints. It also achieved Blue Distinction Center National Designation by BlueCross BlueShield for Spine Surgery and Knee-Hip Replacements which is BlueCross’ highest national recognition for both quality and affordability. As an affiliate, Columbus Orthopaedic Clinic is a growing subspecialty-oriented physician group and has been a trusted provider of orthopaedic care, including spine surgery and pain management, to the residents of the East Mississippi and West Alabama area for over 40 years. The Clinic has locations in both Columbus and Starkville, Mississippi. The Columbus Orthopaedic Clinic proudly serves as the sports medicine provider to numerous area athletic programs including Mississippi State University and local schools.
POSITION SUMMARY
As the Administrator, provides overall daily leadership and direction for ambulatory surgery center (ASC) functions, facility, employees, quality improvement, regulatory compliance and accreditation while reporting to the President & CEO (non-physician position). Works collaboratively with other members of the senior management team regarding revenue cycle, payroll, benefits administration, and information technology. The Administrator shall develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of policies and procedures which assure that safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care is implemented. The Administrator shall oversee the execution of short and long-range operational and capital budgets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
§ Responsible for managing, planning, organizing, and directing activities of the ASC in accordance with policies, procedures, and objectives.
§ Responsible for the management and direction of clinical activities through nurse manager, as well as management of supply chain. Through a collaborative structure, oversees reception/pre-cert, revenue cycle, and credentialing.
§ Coordinates and evaluates ongoing patient care making certain the care is in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures, reporting significant patient problems and unusual occurrences to the CEO.
§ Serves as liaison with ASC Medical Director to determine best practices and promote quality measures and care.
§ Participates in and coordinates financial and cost-containment decisions and evaluates the need for materials and personnel relative to the needs of the ASC.
§ Provides input to and implements capital and operating budgets making certain to operate within approved budget costs while adjusting as required.
§ Oversees and coordinates compliance with staff and regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of the accrediting bodies. Continually monitors operations, compliance, and physical properties and initiates appropriate changes if needed.
§ Oversees patient management systems, electronic health records, and outcomes data systems in conjunction with other managers as indicated.
§ Serves as internal Risk Manager overseeing safety, risk management, OSHA, and emergency preparedness and other healthcare regulation requirements. Participates in loss prevention by protecting company assets and maintaining a safe work environment.
§ Maintains patient confidentiality standards for both medical and financial information.
§ Plans and initiates new projects within approved guidelines and makes certain all personnel are informed and trained.
§ Regular and predictable attendance.
§ Performs all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
§ Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
§ MHA/MBA preferred but not required.
§ Proven Track Record with demonstrable outcomes.
§ Experience: 5 years of related experience with background in related management required. Previous financial background preferred. Orthopaedic experience preferred but not required.
§ Computer Skills: Must be computer literate. Strong knowledge of computers, word processing, and spreadsheets.
