Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Job Description:
Perform patient evaluations and health screenings.
Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage the mental health needs of patients.
Diagnosis and support the management of comorbidities and complications common to patients with behavioral and mental health conditions.
Provide psychiatric medication management, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting medications as necessary.
Ordering, performing, and interpreting lab tests, diagnostic studies, and providing preventative care.
Work closely with our interdisciplinary team of physicians and counselors to provide comprehensive psychiatric care and medication management to support our patients.
Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral.
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and screenings to determine the appropriate treatment plan for patients with substance abuse disorders.
Provide Psychotherapy treatment to help a patient change behavior, increase happiness, and overcome problems.
Substance Abuse Treatment: work with patients who are addicted to drugs, or other harmful substances. Have specialized knowledge about physical symptoms related to substance abuse, such as tremors and heart palpations, and can recognize mental health issues including depression and anxiety, that are associated with the rehabilitation process.
Consult with other care providers as needed when deciding on a therapy or treatment program to help the patient manage their acute or chronic pain.
Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries through our electronic health records (EHR) system. All patient progress notes must be completed within 24 hours.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple challenging priorities.
Actively participate as a positive member of the clinic environment.
Attending practice meetings and training as directed.
Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and insurance entities.
Remain current with updated research and best practices.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
Supervising Physician Specialties Include: Psychiatry and Neurology
Qualifications:
Must have an active license to practice as a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner and have met the qualifications for a certified practicing PMHNP-BC.
Must have an active DEA License.
