Qualifications
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
3. Ability to work with staff and students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Use dishwasher and other equipment in a safe manner. Inspect
equipment for cleanliness and functional operation.
2. Serve food following sanitary guidelines.
3. Clean equipment and kitchen areas as directed.
4. Prepare, serve, and assist with storing and inventorying of food
products.
5. Proof of being free of communicable disease by filing of report of
examination by a licensed medical physician.
6. Perform cooking duties with other workers.
7. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and
inventory control.
8. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
9. Ability to read and write.
10. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
11. Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
12. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
13. Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements.
14. Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
15. Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques,
and quality standards.
16. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:
*Lifting, pulling, or pushing 50 lbs. (from floor to waist), lifting 10 lbs.
from waist to overhead.
*Stooping, bending, twisting, standing, walking, reaching, talking,
feeling.
*Making judgments.
*Attaining tolerances.
EQUIPMENT USED:
*Carts and containers, warming oven for transport.
*Refrigeration unit, freezer, dishwasher, can opener, slicer, mixer,
steamer, cooker.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
*Knowledge of food service activities.
*Experience in a food service operation.
*Knowledge of DPI requirements in sanitation and safety.
*ServSafe Certification required beginning January 1, 2011.
*Can follow menu directions.
*Knowledge of weights and measures.
*Knows how to use product substitutions for menu items.
*Driver’s license is desirable.
*The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in
the workplace in compliance with District Policy & Regulation 3122 throughout his/her employment in the District.
*Staff member shall serve as a positive role model. 34. Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
