Job Summary
Columbus State University has an opening for an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Athletic Department. This is a professional position which involves assisting the Assistant Athletics Director with the organization and administration of the total medical care for student-athletes.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Provide injury/illness evaluation, injury prevention and recovery programs, emergency care, management and treatment, and rehabilitation for intercollegiate student-athletes.; Act as liaison with student-athletes, coaches, physicians, parents and other medial and non-medical personnel regarding injury and health conditions for student-athletes.; Assist with administration of pre-season physical exam and health updates for all student-athletes.; Maintain accurate injury reports, treatment logs, rehabilitation progress reports, and other necessary medical records for student-athletes.; Provide oversight for GTF's providing medical care for assigned sports.; Arrange consultations for student-athletes with consulting physicians or other medical specialties as needed. Includes scheduling appointments, accompanying the student-athletes to office visits, and communicating with providers.; Provide necessary medical information regarding athletic injuries/illnesses to the Insurance Coordinator to facilitate claims processing. Review and/or approve medical bills from physicians, hospitals, or other providers to determine accuracy and compliance with NCAA rules as well as Athletic Department policies.; Assist in departmental events, projects, and/or functions when appropriate.; Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer of Athletic Director.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: Master's degree in Athletic Medicine or a related field.; National Athletic Trainers Association Certification.; One to three years of experience providing Athletic Training support for intercollegiate and/or elite level athletes. (Graduate Assistant experience may count towards these years of experience).; Ability to recognize, evaluate, and care for athletic injuries and illnesses.; Eligibility for licensure as an ATC in the state of Georgia.; Current CPR certification and BLS certification.; Valid driver's license and good driving record.; An extensive knowledge of the NCAA Division II rules and regulations; communication and organizational skills are also needed. A successful criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.
Proposed Salary
The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $35,868 - 40,000 and includes full benefits.
