Job Summary
The Director of advising oversees a team of academic success navigators and is responsible for guiding the department's strategic goals in student support, retention, and progression. The Director will use a combination of coaching methodologies, academic advising best practices, and student success data to support students' personal, academic, and career achievements. This position requires collaboration across departments to ensure a cohesive, student-centered approach to academic and career success.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Leadership and Supervision (40%) - Supervise and support a team of academic success navigators, including performance reviews, training, and professional development opportunities. Manage departmental budgets, grant applications, and resource allocations for student success initiatives. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student service centers to enhance the student success coaching model and address retention and graduation goals. Maintain and update departmental resources, including website content, printed materials, and policies.; Student Success Coaching Program Development (30%) - Oversee the design and implementation of coaching and advising services that support students' academic, personal, and career growth. Coordinate coaching sessions and workshops focused on leadership development, goal setting, and career exploration, using an ICF-approved coaching framework. Develop and implement an early alert system to identify and support at-risk students, ensuring timely interventions through collaboration with faculty, academic success navigators, and campus resources. Use data analytics and student performance metrics to assess coaching effectiveness, identify high-need students, and implement proactive support strategies. Integrate coaching into the larger framework of student success at CSU, including retention initiatives like Complete College Georgia and the Momentum Approach.; Collaboration and Outreach (20%) - Build partnerships with other campus entities to provide a well-rounded support network for students. Represent the coaching program at campus, local, state, and national events to promote best practices in student success coaching and advising. Lead efforts in dual enrollment and high school outreach, establishing partnerships and maintaining MOUs with local high schools.; Strategic Planning and Evaluation (10%) - Develop, implement, and assess strategic plans aimed at improving retention, progression, and graduation rates. Analyze and report on data trends related to student success metrics, including GPA, retention, and progression rates, to identify program improvements. Participate in grant writing to secure additional resources for the coaching program and collaborative student success initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.; Certification from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or a commitment to complete certification within two years of employment.; At least three years of experience in student coaching, academic advising, or a related field within higher education.; Strong knowledge of coaching methodologies, student development theories, and/or academic advising best practices.; Experience with data-driven decision-making and familiarity with academic software like Banner, Degree Works, and Target X.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications include: Background in supporting underrepresented or underserved student populations.; Proficiency in organizing student development workshops, leadership training, and personal development sessions.; Familiarity with tools for monitoring student performance metrics and early intervention strategies.
Proposed Salary
The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $78,162 - $86,432 and includes full benefits.
