Job Summary

The Facilities Systems Manager provides dedicated electronic access control and facilities systems oversight, including computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). In addition, this position processes and schedules preventative maintenance work orders for the main and RiverPark campuses and outlying facilities. As a systems manager, this position is a vital quality control touchpoint for maintenance and service completion. This position reports to the Director of Plant Operations and the Assistant Vice President of University Operations.

Responsibilities

Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Serves as a backup operator for electronic access controls and surveillance cameras and schedules maintenance and updates to these systems as necessary. Serves as the primary operator for building automation systems and works closely with the applicable vendors to ensure smooth and continuous operation of these systems.; Responsible for the integration of and maintenance of all building systems and equipment into the university's CMMS software.; Works with other university safety and security stakeholders to plan, optimize, and troubleshoot all electronic access systems on both campuses.; In the event of unsuccessful troubleshooting or new point of access requests, serves as the primary point of contact for any needed contractor services regarding camera positioning, new unit installation, and/or equipment failure.; Monitors building automation networks and responds to system irregularities, ensuring minimal disruptions to academic and administrative environments.; Liaison between multiple software suppliers and vendors and the university.; As the CMMS point of contact, works closely with consultant services to streamline the data integration from campus projects into the CMMS software.; Demonstrates critical thinking by forecasting supply and equipment needs for upcoming preventative maintenance projects.; Researches new technology and industry best practices for utility monitoring and tracking.; Communicates effectively with university and community stakeholders and partners as necessary when implementing new practices and/or procedures.; Assists with regular utilization studies of services by preparing data collection forms and analyzing data to determine peak usage and average usage times.; Inspects service completion through forms, random audits, and other means fitting the type of service.; Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent.; Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in access control, surveillance systems, facilities design, construction, facilities maintenance, or related experience is required.; The successful candidate is familiar with multiple software programs including AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent.; Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications include: Experience in higher education or an educational setting is preferred.; An understanding of the facilities and physical plant operations of a university is preferred.; Bachelor's degree in urban planning, engineering, construction science, or another related field preferred.

Proposed Salary

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $51,503 - $56,441 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Verbal and written communication and interpersonal and organizational skills in a rapidly changing environment.; Ability to prioritize under pressure and exercise initiative, judgment, and problem-solving skills to complete work, take responsibility, and make decisions based on solid analysis and interpretation.; Relate and work effectively with university employees, faculty, students, and the public in a collegial, cooperative, and respectful manner.; Working knowledge of word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, email, and electronic calendar software (i.e., MS Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Outlook).; Requires the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers.; Must be able to occasionally lift 30 lbs.; Some early mornings, nights, and weekends will be required.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates are required to submit and successfully pass a background investigation to include reference checks and verification of academic credentials (if applicable). Other additional requirements may be required based upon specific position duties:
  • A credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage;
  • Pre-employment drug testing for positions with high-risk responsibilities.
  • Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive a Columbus State University fleet vehicle or other vehicle designated as a fleet vehicle. A successful drug screening will be required as a condition of employment a randomly thereafter.
