What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anatomy & Physiology Adjunct Instructor position at Columbus Technical College?

Columbus Technical College seeks an individual to serve as a part-time Anatomy & Physiology Adjunct Instructor in our Health Sciences and Nursing Division. This position is responsible for classroom and laboratory instruction at the college and area high schools. Applicants must be able to teach a variety of methodologies, including face-to-face, online, hybrid, and video conferencing. This position will also require developing lesson plans, evaluating student progress in attaining goals and objectives, attending intradepartmental meetings, completing mandatory staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences, and ensuring all safety and security requirements are met in training labs. Additional Duties include preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports. This position is part-time/exempt.

Note: This position will require physical ability to move about or stand for long periods; no restrictions or limitations on bending, stooping, reaching, and safely lifting up to 50 lbs.

Please note the following information regarding this position:

  1. May be required to teach high school students
  2. May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
  3. May require travel
  4. May require teaching morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend classes

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.
  • Correctly assesses the educational needs and course progress of students.
  • Selecting and obtaining appropriate educational materials for courses
  • Prepares reports on the student’s status in the course indicating whether performance is aligned with critical indicators, including course goals and progress schedule.
  • Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, exams, and other appropriate materials
  • Prepares appropriate curricula, including non-traditional content and methods, to achieve course goals and objectives.
  • Assist with student advisement
  • Participation in program committees
  • Proficient with current applications in computer technology (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Respond promptly to administrative requests
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Anatomy & Physiology or Human Biology

-OR-

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Microbiology, Genetics, Biological Science, Pathology, Medical Science with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours/27 graduate quarter hours in Anatomy & Physiology (NOT Education courses)

-OR-

  • Possess an advanced degree as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in post-secondary education

Salary/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
