Columbus Technical College seeks a dedicated individual to serve as a Full-Time Lab Manager and Instructor within our Division of Health Sciences and Nursing (HSN). This full-time, exempt position involves managing and maintaining all Health Sciences and Nursing labs, coordinating HSN tours and community events, and instructing students in allied health courses. Additionally, the individual will serve as the College’s Exposure Control Coordinator and participate in professional development activities, workshops, seminars, and conferences.This position is full-time/exempt.

The individual should also possess these skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation abilities
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs safely

Responsibilities:

Lab Management & Maintenance

  • Develop and maintain a semester lab calendar for patient care lab areas
  • Prepare requested lab materials and supplies for weekly labs and checkoffs
  • Organize and procure short- and long-term laboratory supplies
  • Oversee inventory management and equipment maintenance
  • Arrange service for lab equipment as needed
  • Ensure simulation lab and manikins are properly utilized for instruction
  • Conduct faculty training on simulation lab usage
  • Oversee simulation lab exercises and assist in integrating simulation into lab activities
  • Maintain lab safety, security, cleanliness, and organization
  • Handle biohazardous waste disposal
  • Manage linen service (delivery, pick-up, invoicing, and stocking)

Community Engagement & Administrative

  • Organize and conduct HSN tours and recruitment events
  • Coordinate community events (e.g., blood drives, Boy Scout physicals, Scrubs Camp)
  • Disseminate information on institutional and divisional policies and procedures

Instruction & Curriculum Development

  • Teach allied health courses and develop engaging lesson plans
  • Evaluate student performance and prepare status reports
  • Ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and course materials
  • Develop non-traditional curricula to meet course objectives
  • Prepare tests, class projects, and case studies, and assess student work
  • Administer make-up tests and grading

Exposure Control Coordinator

  • Implement, maintain, and review the Exposure Control Plan
  • Ensure compliance with medical actions and health record maintenance
  • Provide training and documentation on exposure control
  • Ensure the availability of the written Exposure Control Plan

Professional Development & College Engagement

  • Attend college-wide and divisional meetings
  • Participate in college committees and professional organizations
  • Respond promptly to administrative requests
  • Engage in ongoing professional development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Healthcare-related occupation from a U.S. Department of Education (USDE) recognized institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency
  • Current certification and/or Georgia License in a healthcare discipline
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in BANNER
  • One or more years of teaching experience in post-secondary education
  • BLS instructor

Salary/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
