Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time Payroll Specialist in our Human Resources / Payroll Department. This individual will be responsible for the coordination and / or management of payroll operations and related transactions for employees of Columbus Technical College; maintaining and reconciling weekly / monthly reports; preparing employee folders and processing payroll records. This position is full-time / Exempt
Responsibilities :
- Advises employees or retirees on benefit programs, retirement, payroll-related laws, payroll deductions, deferred compensation, etc.;
- Analyzes / audits payroll for accuracy of preparation / posting ;
- Computes or reconciles balances, and makes corrections;
- Conducts research and compiles statistical reports, statements and / or summaries related to pay and benefits accounts;
- Maintains payroll records, and provides information based on regulations and confidentiality requirements;
- Processes / administers third-party requests involving employee pay, such as garnishments, levies, bankruptcies and child support wage assignments;
- Acts as a liaison between the payroll section and other government agencies, consultants and other outside businesses in resolving problems;
- Assists in the development and revision of payroll policies and procedures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles;
- Prepares Employee file folders
- Assists in the management of accident claims for employees and students
- Assists visitors of the Human Resource Department
- Other duties and projects as assigned

Note : Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Salary / Benefits :
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
