Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as the Vice President of Academic Affairs. This individual reports to the President of Columbus Technical College and will be responsible for planning, administering and evaluating institutional services to include supervision and leadership in the activities of personnel as related to instruction; develop and maintain professional development activities; recommend the implementation or continuance or discontinuance of instructional programs and approves new curricula and revisions; The Vice President for Academic Affairs also develops and maintains policies and procedures; assists with semester and annual enrollment reports; plans and manages the Academic Affairs budget and plays a key role in implementing the College’s strategic plan and in institutional effectiveness measures and plays a key role in implementing the College’s strategic plan and in institutional effectiveness measures. This position is full-time/exempt.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and organizes the Academic Affairs division work to meet the College’s objectives. Reviews and approves work schedules and request for leave, training and travel. Approves critical hire requests; responsible for disciplinary issues; acts as reviewing manager for performance plans and evaluations.
- Collaborates with members of the President’s Leadership Team and others to effectively implement strategies and complete projects across college divisions to meet the college’s mission and goals
- Develops policies and procedures for the Academic Affairs division. Develops or seeks approval for effective processes for incorporating or implementing new rules, policies and procedures. Ensures policies and procedures are clearly communicated to employees to facilitate adherence.
- Recommends the implementation or discontinuance of instructional programs. Approves new curricula and revisions and effectively coordinates curriculum development activities within and between content areas to insure a sequential and comprehensive curriculum. Authorizes and reviews modes of curriculum delivery (distance education). Reviews and authorizes course and program schedules.
- Evaluates College policies, procedures, and processes and recommended changes with the assistance of the deans and advises the President with regard to such.
- Coordinates with divisional deans the development and delivery of staff in-service activities.
- Coordinates, with assistance from divisional deans, hearings for academic appeals of students.
- Requests funds and approves expenditure of funds for instructional and staff development efforts. Prepares all necessary budget and purchasing documents according to established procedures and submits them at required times.
- Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the academic programs.
- Maintains up-to-date policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives.
- Serves on various boards and committees as approved by the President.
- Assists with the compilation of semester and annual enrollment reports as needed. This includes submitting reports in a timely manner and according to established procedures.
- Provides input for marketing and recruiting efforts for the College.
- Supervises the College’s library and media services.
- Assists with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities as requested.
- Supervises and evaluates personnel as reflected in the organization chart.
- Participates in annual planning and budgeting process at the College.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a vocational field or occupational supporting discipline or a related field.
- Five years of experience in a postsecondary environment including at least two years work experience as a postsecondary instructor.
- Three years’ experience in a postsecondary leadership position (academic dean, assistant vice president, or an equivalent position).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of experience as an academic dean, assistant vice president of academic affairs, vice president of academic affairs, or an equivalent position in a postsecondary institution
- Experience working at a technical college, preferably in the state of Georgia
Salary/Benefits:
