What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scare Actor position at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium?
Overview
Act and perform in houses and scare zones throughout the park
Responsibilities
- Consistent communication with direct supervisor and other team members
- Create and/or impersonate characters and/or personalities.
- Perform to a set acting standard throughout the night
- Memorize any necessary and/or assigned dialogue, safety spiels, emergency exit plans, safety operating procedures, and park guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and good condition of assigned costume
- Utilize props and accessories as directed
- Handle any other duties as assigned by management
- Adhere to all Zoo / Zoombezi Bay policies
- Create and/or impersonate characters and/or personalities.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Good oral communication skills
- Required to work weekends/holidays and late evenings during Zombiezi Bay season
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Work well under pressure and in a fast paced enviorment
- This position is not eligible for overtime pay
- Must successfully pass a criminal history record check annually required
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, rain, cold).
- Must be comfortable wearing makeup for extended periods of time
