Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of public restroom facilities and adjacent areas throughout Zoo, Zoombezi Bay and Safari Golf Club grounds.

- Restroom Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of public restroom facilities by cleaning mirrors, sinks, toilets, floors, walls, and doors. Empty trash receptacles, replenish supplies, and maintain cleanliness of surrounding areas.
- Event Support: Assist with room set-up and clean-up for meetings and special events, providing support for activities like Wildlights and the Columbus Zoo Lantern Festival.
- Groundskeeping: Help with maintaining grounds and other custodial duties as needed to ensure a neat and welcoming environment.
- Guest Assistance: Provide directions, answer questions, and assist visitors in emergency situations.
- Vending Machine Management: Maintain stock in public and administrative restrooms, handle money deposits, and submit requisitions.
- Safety & Compliance: Actively participate in safety training, follow safety protocols, and ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Team Collaboration: Support fellow staff members, assisting with other facility duties when required.
- Sustainability Practices: Implement sustainable practices in your work whenever possible to support our environmental initiatives.
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. 6 months of related custodial experience.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing.
- Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Self-Management: Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Positive Attitude: Commitment to excellent service and upholding guest service standards.
- Teamwork: Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with all Zoo team members and external contacts.
- Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Health & Safety Requirements: Proof of a negative TB screening before placement and annually thereafter.
- Driver’s License: Possession of a valid state-issued motor vehicle operator’s license and a good driving record.
- Drug-Free Workplace: Ability to adhere to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s drug-free workplace policy.
- Background Check: Must successfully complete a criminal history background check annually.
