Position Summary:

The Hospitality F&B Bartender is responsible for ensuring a positive guest experience across various bar locations within the casino, adapting to the needs of the business. The bartender will set up, maintain, and operate the bar, provide exceptional service to guests, and reconcile customer bills and payments. The role requires a dynamic individual who can work in different bars depending on business requirements and maintain high service standards in a fast-paced casino environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Guest Interaction & Service:
    • Greet guests in a professional and friendly manner, explain specials, food, and beverage ingredients, and upsell as appropriate.
    • Take orders and serve drinks, including wine, beer (bottled and draft), and cocktails, following standard recipes and proper presentation techniques.
    • Communicate with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve any concerns promptly.
  • Bar Setup & Maintenance:
    • Perform side work, including bussing bar tables, cleaning bar areas, and ensuring all items are stocked and ready for service.
    • Ensure that all bar containers (e.g., salt, pepper, condiments, ice bins) are stocked and maintained throughout the shift.
    • Keep reach-ins clean and ensure all necessary items are replenished as required.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Enter all food and beverage items into the computer system accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Deliver food and beverage items quickly and professionally using appropriate serving techniques.
    • Assist servers when needed to ensure efficient service.

  • Financial Management:
    • Total guest bills, present them for payment, and process payments in a timely manner.
    • Follow procedures for handling cash, credit, and other financial transactions accurately.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure adherence to all alcohol laws and regulations, including checking IDs when necessary and enforcing responsible alcohol service.
    • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized bar, complying with safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Inventory & Supplies Management:
    • Recommend equipment repairs or replacements as needed and assist the Bar Manager in requisitioning bar supplies, including alcohol, coffee, and espresso beans.
    • Participate in inventory management and assist with stock rotation.
  • Teamwork & Support:
    • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless service and operational efficiency.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Bar Manager to ensure smooth bar operations.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED.

Training and/or Experience:

  • Required: One to two years of bartending experience, preferably in a high-volume environment such as a casino or large-scale bar.
  • Preferred: Previous experience using POS systems.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with POS systems, and basic computer skills.
  • Certifications & Licenses:
    • California Food Handlers Certificate (within 60 days of employment).
    • Alcohol Awareness Certificate (within 60 days of employment).
    • Preferred: Serve Safe/Sanitation Certification.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Conditions:
    Works in a well-lit, ventilated, and temperature-controlled environment, with occasional exposure to a smoke-filled and noisy environment. Flexibility required as bartenders may be asked to work in different bars based on business needs. May be required to work weekends, shifts, and holidays.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Frequently stand, walk, and reach outward.
    • Occasionally sit, climb, and perform tasks that require bending, squatting, or kneeling.
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently; push and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • Ability to manage financial transactions and handle cash accurately.
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations, ensuring compliance with all health and safety guidelines.
