Colwill Engineering, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Electrical Service Technician in the Tampa, FL area to join our team.
We are currently offering a competitive pay range for this full-time position, Monday through Friday. (In-person)

What this Role will Do:
The Electrical Service Technician work will consist of installation, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry.
Proceeds with work from plans and specifications, supervising crews, has knowledge of all electrical equipment and major tools. Understands the scope of drawings and demonstrates ability to supervise others in their work performance under direction of project superintendents.
Role Responsibilities:
- Directs and works with journeyman, mechanics, apprentice and helpers
- Plans work – responsible for materials and securing all tools
- Installs all work effectively
- Demonstrates knowledge of all tools and equipment
- Securing tools, equipment and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks
- Daily clean up
- Troubleshoots all electric systems
- Monitors progress of work
- Assures crews are accounted for and time sheet filled out properly
- Possess skills of lower Rating Job Titles (Journeyman, Mechanic, Apprentice and Helpers)
- Comply with company and O.S.H.A. safety regulations and ensure a safe workplace for yourself and crew
- Maintaining an adequate supply of materials for the assigned crew for at least one week ahead
- Must direct in a professional manner
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Positively identify colors of wires
- Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics
- Bend conduit by hand with hand benders
- Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches
- Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
- Practices and comprehends safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Policy Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy
- Operates two (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers
- Operate company trucks with manual and automatic transmissions (MUST BE ON THE APPROVED COMPANY LIST TO OPERATE ALL COMPANY VEHICLES)
- Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, basic blueprints and written instructions
- Capable of using arc flash safe work practices and able to work on energized equipment when hot work permits are necessary and approved
- Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered)
- Operate equipment, trenchers, backhoe, and lift trucks in a safe manner
- Supervise assigned job-site employees to complete project
- O.S.H.A. 10 and CPR certified
