What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library & Instructional Materials (IMA) Coordinator position at Comal ISD?
Primary Purpose
The Library and Instructional Materials Coordinator is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation oversight, control, and management of District-wide library systems and Instructional Materials budgeting and procurement, all under the general direction of the Director of Digital Learning.
Education / Certification
Education
- Minimum of a Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Texas teacher’s certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.
- Library certification preferred
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a teacher (K-12).
- Five (5) years’ of Successful Experience in a K-12 Library.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Library Program Support
- Provide leadership and vision for the District libraries
- Evaluate electronic and media resources and programs in support of effective teaching
- Work with campus principals to provide optimal service and instruction for each campus
- Work with District teams to support library construction and renovation
- Liaison to division of Instruction and Learning
- Manage digital database resources
Instructional Materials
- Track and report Instructional Material Allotment (IMA) biennial budget and expenditures, timelines, and provide budget updates to District leadership and governing bodies
- Work with leadership and advisory committees to ensure stakeholder transparency and accountability
- Coordinate instructional materials selection process with Teaching and Learning department
Other
- Provide professional development
- Determine ongoing compliance issues
- Serve the function of District Copyright Officer
- Work with District teams to support library construction and renovation
- Review and update relevant Board policies as needed
- Participate in District and campus committees as appropriate
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Paraprofessional and professional staff as assigned
