Construction Lab Tech

Comal Services is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team in McAllen, TX. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for sampling, processing, and testing materials by established procedures and specifications, including proper documentation of testing results. These methods include American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Department of Transportation (DOT), US Corp of Engineers, etc. other responsibilities include:

• Perform physical/index/chemical construction material laboratory testing, as assigned:
• Concrete/Concrete Masonry Unit Testing (concrete cylinder/cmu/core prep and compressing, specialty concrete testing, etc.)
• Hot Mix Asphalt testing (gradations, AC content, density, etc.)
• Soils (roadway base, select fills, subgrade, etc.), testing (moisture/density, Atterberg Limits, gradations, specialty, strength, etc.)
• Aggregate testing (gradation, specific gravity, unit weight, etc.)
• Properly document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts.
• Perform and keep documentation of routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Maintain a neat/clean/safe laboratory and workspace.
• Maintain relevant certifications to also include regular review of pertinent testing methods.
• Meet deadlines and priorities according to established procedures.
• Demonstrate the safe usage, storage, and maintenance of all tools and equipment, including company vehicles.
• Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
• Understand, adhere to, and participate in Health & Safety programs, setting a good example of our safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 – 55 per week
