Shift Lieutenant

MUST HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE.

CLEET AVAILABILITY

• Takes direct orders from the Captain and Administrator.
• Supervises Sergeants and Correctional Officers.
• Attends and participates in required training.
• Defuses disruptive behavior of inmates by verbal interventions.
• Controls disruptive behavior by appropriate verbal orders and/or appropriate use of physical force.
• Communicates information regarding security safety and operations through the chain of command.
• Responds to emergency situations.
• Searches for escaped offenders.
• Provides leadership and guidance to staff.
• Writes narrative reports describing events that have happened, such as confidential reports, incident reports, and disciplinary reports.
• Signs all log books on each floor. i.e. cuff log, lint trap log, cleaning supply usage log.
• Checks log books on each floor to make sure they are up-to-date.
• Performs segregation housing unit checks and notate on segregation log for each inmate.
• Ensures that all inmates are fed in a timely manner and food trays are picked up; including throwing away trays (styrofoam containers).
• Does routine cell searches.
• Each shift does pipe chase checks daily.
• Accounts for officers at all times.
• Ensures officers safety at all times.
• Accounts for inmates at all times.
• Gives up-to-date information on each shift change.

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.77 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
