Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team. The PCU is a critical care step-down unit that serves patients who require close monitoring and advanced nursing care, but not the full intensity of an ICU. As an RN in the PCU, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to adult patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the nursing process.
- Monitor and assess patients' conditions and vital signs, responding promptly to changes.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, recovery processes, and health maintenance.
- Document patient care accurately and timely using electronic health records (EHR).
- Respond to emergencies and provide life-saving interventions as needed.
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and best practices to ensure patient safety and care quality.
Requirements:
- Active and unencumbered RN license in [State].
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certification required (American Heart Association).
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; PCU, step-down, or critical care experience strongly preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-acuity patients.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpreting EKG rhythms.
- Familiarity with EPIC or similar EHR systems.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with ventilators, drips, and titration.
