POSITION SUMMARY: The Tuitua Foundation seeks a dynamic and highly motivated Executive Director to lead the development and operations of the newly established foundation supporting Comanche cultural preservation and promotion. The Executive Director will be responsible for building the foundation from the ground up, establishing its policies, procedures, and fundraising strategies. This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate and experienced individual to make a significant impact on the Comanche Nation community by driving philanthropic support and ensuring the long-term sustainability of vital cultural programs. The salary for this position is negotiable and will be directly linked to the ability to raise contributions for the foundation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Foundation Development & Management:
- Establish and maintain all necessary legal and regulatory compliance for the foundation.
- Create and implement organizational policies and procedures, including those related to HR, finance, and fundraising.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the foundation, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources.
- Prepare regular reports for the Comanche Business Committee on the foundation's progress, financial status, and fundraising efforts.
Human Resources:
- Develop and implement comprehensive HR policies and procedures for the foundation.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of foundation staff.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to staff.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the foundation's annual budget.
- Ensure sound financial practices and adherence to all accounting standards.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Monitor expenses and ensure responsible use of funds.
Fundraising & Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors through personal visits, presentations, and written proposals.
- Design and implement online donation platforms and strategies to maximize online giving.
- Plan and execute fundraising events to raise awareness and generate contributions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Steward donors appropriately and ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts.
Community Engagement & Outreach:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the foundation.
- Represent the foundation at community events and meetings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Promote the foundation's mission and activities through various communication channels.
REPORTS TO: Will Report to the Comanche Business Committee.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Majority of work is performed in a standard office environment.
- May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings, conferences, and fundraising events.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Standard office environment.
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM work schedule.
- May require occasional evening and weekend work to meet project deadlines.
- Travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 5years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of success in fundraising and development.
- Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration) preferred.
- Management experience, including staff supervision and budget management, preferred.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, finance, and fundraising principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and donor management software.
- Knowledge of Comanche culture, history, and traditions is highly desirable.
