POSITION SUMMARY: Will be responsible for assisting the Project Director with project programming and management of the 988 Tribal Response Program. Will also be responsible for outreach and community involvement with Native population including youth, families, and caregivers. This is a grant project funded through Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) and all project staff will be responsible for strict adherence to all federal funding requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Project Coordinator will assist the 988 Tribal Response Program Director in developing program initiatives in an effort to combat suicide among the Native American population within the community including youth, families, and caregivers.
  • Develop and disseminate suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention materials to tribal and community members.
  • Develop and facilitate culturally relevant community outreach activities that target Native American population within the community including youth, families, and caregivers who have been affected by suicide.
  • Provide suicide information and data to the local tribal community.
  • Work in collaboration with local community partners to reduce the risk of suicide and identify the signs and symptoms associated with suicidal ideations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative community partnerships to implement training materials and coordinate training outreach events to identify the signs of suicide and provide information and resources on suicide awareness and prevention.
  • Develop and implement community-based prevention activities and outreach events.
  • Identify and analyze local data sources and provide community repo11ing on the subject of suicide among Native American population within the community including youth, families, and caregivers.
  • Develop awareness campaigns, both print and digital, to educate the community regarding suicide awareness and prevention.
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for staff, program participants, and community members.
  • Will be required to work collaboratively with all other Prevention and Recovery programs and staff.
  • Responsible for establishing the proper data collection systems and encoding of data for reporting requirements to funding agencies and to the Comanche Business Committee.
  • Maintain a confidential filing system in accordance with Comanche Nation record keeping policies and funding agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Will report to the Executive Director. This position does not hold supervisory authority.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Vision and hearing in the normal range, with or without correction.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Majority of work will be performed in a standard office setting with occasional outreach activities and community events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field. Bachelor's degree may be substituted for equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in prevention programming, mental health, or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with Native American populations or tribal organizations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs necessary for record keeping and database management.
  • Must display excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with youth and young adults in outreach programs or prevention services.
  • Preference will be given to Comanche tribal members.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and be insurable under the Comanche Nation's Motor Vehicle policy.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass drug testing; employment will be contingent upon successful completion.
  • Must be willing to submit to a Background Investigation.
