What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant/Technician position at Comanche Trail Veterinary Center?
Comanche Trail Veterinary Center is a privately owned small animal hospital located in Liberty Hill, TX. We are a full-service practice offering preventive care, diagnostic workups, and treatments, including in-house blood work, x-rays, ultra sound, surgery, and dentistry.
We are looking for a team member who takes pride in their work, cares deeply about patients, and is comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will exhibit exceptional attention to detail, be able to multitask, and be willing to learn new skills daily.
Qualifications:
- Small animal handling and restraint skills;
- Veterinary assistant or technician experience;
- Animal anatomy and physiology knowledge; and
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology.
Some of the duties expected of our veterinary assistants and technicians include:
- Triaging patients and obtaining patient vitals;
- Assisting with animal handling, exams and treatments;
- Preparing patients for surgery, including blood draws and IV catheter placement;
- Filling prescriptions; and
- Educating clients and providing guidance for at home pet care per doctor instructions.
