POSITION: SAFETY OFFICER
COMANCO has an excellent and challenging career opportunity for a Safety Officer. The essential functions of the Safety Officer is to oversee and implement the safety efforts of COMANCO Environmental Corporation: to analyze, plan, improve safety practices, procedures, and awareness and to decrease or eliminate accidents in the COMANCO workplace.
Job Focus:
General
- Ensure the Company complies and adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
- Continually develop the HCSS Safety platform.
- Analyze Safety metrics to formulate resource allocation.
- Monitor established key performance indicators (KPI) to verify the attainment of specified safety goals and objectives, follow up where standards are not being obtained, assist Management in evaluating causes and solutions.
- Assist Operations in pre-job planning by understanding job plans and specifications.
- Attend Pre-Job Planning meetings and provide information pertaining to potential hazards and controls for projects.
- Develop Project Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and modify as needed throughout the project.
- Participate in the weekly Fleet Safety Meetings.
- Perform routine inspections of the Fleet Department.
- Prioritize field support while maintaining a high level of process and procedure.
- Professionally and effectively communicate with COMANCO employees, clients, and vendors.
- Proactively take constructive feedback and formulate means and methods for improvements, following existing and creating unique means and methods.
- Assist HR in the new hire onboarding process for safety.
- Solicit quotes from multiple vendors, create purchase orders, and coordinate logistics.
- Aid all departments in all safety related matters.
- Maintain and report OSHA and MSHA statistics.
- Maintain customer requirements for safety online portals.
Field
- Ensure employees perform tasks safely, timely, and accurately, aiding and training as necessary.
- Conduct job site inspections and meetings; review any compliance issues. Complete follow-up inspections to ensure the reduction of violations.
- Facilitate the implementation and use of the HCSS Safety platform; use of JHA's, Near Miss, Inspections, and Incident reporting.
- Review accident reports, conduct investigations, prepare Post-Accident Investigation Reports (Root Cause Analysis) and make appropriate recommendations to Management.
- Complete all reports promptly.
- Conduct onsite safety meetings and make appropriate safety recommendations.
- Review all safety plans and ensure compliance on all job sites.
- Perform routine inspections of the job sites.
- Conduct site-specific training for all employees as required.
- Stop operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
- Assist in training employees in safe job procedures.
- Maintain communication with key employees, customer safety personnel, and consultants.
- Ensure all required postings are displayed on all job sites.
- Ensure job sites are adequately stocked with all required safety supplies. (first-aid kits, eyewash, etc.)
- Regularly inspect equipment and report findings.
- Participate in professional organizations, seminars, and meetings.
- Perform other duties and individual assignments, as assigned by the Management.
Qualifications:
- Education: College degree in engineering or construction safety is preferred.
- Experience: Five (5) to ten (10) years in the safety inspection with construction or environmental industry experience preferred.
- Skills: Proven ability to oversee and maintain safety processes in a computer environment; proven experience in safety training through knowledge of Federal and State safety laws and regulations.
