JOB SUMMARY:
As a Product Owner (PO), you will play a critical role in leading technology transformation and building business capabilities that allow Combined to compete in the market and deliver leading customer experiences. The Product Owner role will be aligned to the following strategic initiatives:
- Producer Compensation & Compliance: Leverage automation and digital capabilities to enhance administration of producer compensation, contracting, and licensing & appointments.
As we establish the project portfolio, the individual will play a hybrid role to ensure that compensation-related initiatives are successfully delivered across Combined North America. The role will initially balance both Product Owner and Project Manager responsibilities (50%/50%) and will increasingly focus on Product Ownership as the program matures (80%/20%):
- Primary Focus: You will lead compensation-related initiatives as a Product Owner across various IT delivery teams. This will require flexibility to support various delivery methodologies, from Agile to waterfall, and adaptability to transition between owning the end-to-end project vs. a workstream within a larger transformation program. As a Product Owner, you will partner with business owners and stakeholders across Combined to successfully deliver the project, from defining requirements and designing solutions to articulating acceptance criteria and executing testing.
- Secondary Focus: The role will also partner with IT and business functions in a Project Manager capacity to help manage compensation-related IT delivery initiatives and project dependencies across Combined North America. This will include maintaining a roadmap, driving decision-making, prioritizing initiatives, and helping to manage compensation-related deliverables, activities, and resource needs across Combined’s project portfolio. In addition, the individual will help to manage expectations and address concerns across the different projects and stakeholder groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accountable for the quality of work product and overall outcomes produced by the multidisciplinary delivery teams throughout the product lifecycle
- Develop, prioritize, and maintain the compensation-related product roadmap and backlog to drive speed-to market and business impact
- Articulate opportunities and design target journeys and solutions, balancing multi-disciplinary inputs and competing stakeholder priorities with achieving business outcomes
- Monitor dependencies and risks, and actively work with relevant stakeholders to mitigate or resolve
- Provide needs clarity, support solutioning & release planning, and collaborate in providing quality assurance during build and testing of the product capabilities
- Facilitate product demos and launches, advocating and communicating value to users and stakeholders
- Measure and track performance of key metrics in line with the OKRs; generate insights and feed back into the roadmap and delivery
- Scribe experience and process-focused user stories in alignment with the digital-first ways of working story writing and ownership model
- Continuously identify areas of opportunities for delivery and provide input into sprint reviews and retrospectives
- Build and maintain relationships and collaborate effectively on an on-going basis with cross functional stakeholders intra and inter domain
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements
- Identify development needs and provide product mentorship and coaching to delivery teams
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to provide hands-on direction and day-to-day execution ownership in a multidisciplinary team
- Relevant knowledge and understanding of business objectives to align with product vision
- Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically; also, an empathic approach to understand user needs and motivations

- Ability to effectively identify and manage needs of a broad range of stakeholders

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Hands-on end-to-end digital product management lifecycle experience, preferably in insurance industry setting
- Robust working knowledge in technical aspects of product development, including solution design, SDLC management, agile principles, and programming concepts
- Strong knowledge of Chubb’s digital-first operating model and its application to the product management discipline
- Fluency in data and analytics driven decision making and feedback loops into product development
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with background in business, computer science, customer experience, or technology
- 5-10 years of experience leading initiatives within the Insurance and Financial Services industry
- 4-7 years of product ownership experience working in or leading Agile units (preferably as a product owner in an insurance company or in an insurtech)
- Fintech, Insurtech, or end-to-end customer digital experience advantageous
- Customer first mindset and approach to product development
- Demonstrated understanding for the intersection of business, UX design, and technology
- Knowledge of Insurance distribution management (e.g., employee agent, independent agent, broker)
- Understanding of group vs. individual insurance and value chain (e.g., UW, new business, claims)
- Proven track record leading executives and influencing others towards a common goal or vision
- Experience working in a multi-discipline, matrix structure that fosters collaboration/teamwork
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to clearly articulate messages
- Ability to communicate with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all levels
- Highly organized, extremely goal oriented mindset, logical, thorough, and detail-oriented
- Out of the box thinker who can take a step back and find alternative solutions
- Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time
- Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
- Preferred knowledge of JIRA, BPM tools (e.g., OpenText), policy admin & billing solutions (e.g., mainframes)
